Vintage French Glazed Pottery Pitcher/Jug - Gargoulette, For Water or Wine
This is a beautiful example of a handmade Provencal terra cotta pitcher/Gargoulette and is very old -- turn of the century. It would have been used to keep water or wine chilled in the heat of the Provence sun. It is in excellent condition! There is a spot of terracotta where the yellow glaze missed on the handle, as well as a scratch mark on one side, but these are both original to the pitcher.
